What makes your berley different?
Our berley is made from real fish protein and oil, not just stockfeed with a fishy scent. It’s clean, dry, and doesn’t need a freezer. It's also made with NZ products, how good.
Is the bait really shelf-stable?
Yep. The pellets, oil, and gel are all shelf-stable. The salted mackerel can be stored cool and dry, or frozen if you want to keep it longer. No more needing a bait freezer 24/7.
Does it smell?
No strong odour. Unlike frozen bait or blocks, our bait is designed to be easy to handle and doesn’t stink out your car or bin.
How much should I use?
Depends on the product. A few handfuls of berley will set a solid trail. One fillet is enough for a session. The bait gel only needs a dab — a little goes a long way.
Can I use the gel with soft bait?
Absolutely. That’s exactly what it’s made for. It’s sticky, holds scent well, and helps turn follows into strikes.
Usage & Tips
How should I store the bait?
Keep everything cool, dry, and out of direct sun. Once opened, mackerel is best kept in the fridge. The rest is good to go in the tackle box or boot without any fuss.
Can I use your products off a boat or from shore?
Totally. Everything in the range is tested for surfcasting, straylining, and dropping baits from the boat. Doesn’t matter how you fish, it’ll do the job.
Are your products safe for the environment?
Yes. We use by-products that would’ve otherwise gone to waste, and our packaging is minimal and easy to reuse or recycle. We fish here too, so we look after it.
Can I use this bait in freshwater?
No — our products are made for saltwater fishing only. Using berley or scent-based bait in freshwater is not allowed in many areas under Fish & Game New Zealand rules.

Do you ship across New Zealand?
Yes, we ship New Zealand-wide. Orders under $50 ship for $10. Orders over $50 ship free.
How long will it take to get my order?
Orders are usually packed within 2 business days and sent via tracked courier. You’ll get a tracking link once it's on the move.
Do you ship internationally?
Not at this stage — we’re focused on New Zealand at the moment.
Can I change my order after it's placed?
Flick us a message as soon as you can. If it hasn’t shipped yet, we’ll do our best to help.
Returns & Support
Do you accept returns?
Because our bait is perishable, we don’t offer change-of-mind returns. If something arrives damaged or faulty, get in touch and we’ll sort it.
My item arrived damaged — what do I do?
Send us a photo and your order number within 7 days and we’ll make it right. Email us at hello@fishermansupply.co.nz
